Topo Chico launched a pop-up swap shop for people to exchange their stereotypical Cinco de Mayo party accessories for margaritas. YPulse’s nightlife and drinking report found that Millennials are still very into hard seltzer. To promote its new margarita seltzer drinks and to honor the Mexican holiday in an authentic way, Topo Chico launched a “Topo Chico de Mayo Swap Shop” pop-up shop in New York and online that allows customers to exchange Cinco de Mayo tchotchkes—like shot glasses, Cinco de Drinko t-shirts, or fake mustaches—for a rebate on Topo Chico Margarita Hard Seltzer. According to the VP of hard seltzers at Molson Coors Beverage Company: “The margarita is a beloved drink, but it comes with some baggage, in the way of cheesy margarita culture. The only thing that should be cheesy about Cinco de Mayo is the queso, so Topo Chico Hard Seltzer is stepping in to do something about all those cheap, stereotypical party accessories.” (Marketing Dive, Molson Coors Beer & Beyond)
