McDonald’s is spotlighting young Latino film talent to boost representation in the industry. YPulse research found that McDonald’s is Gen Z and Millennials’ favorite fast food place, and the brand has been building a foundation of supporting BIPOC communities. Adding to the list of programs supporting next gen BIPOC artists and creators, the company launched Spotlight Dorado, a multiyear platform showcasing and advocating for young Latino talent in Hollywood. From now until June 3rd, Latino writers, directors, and producers in the U.S. can submit screenplays and stories to SpotlightDorado.com. Three finalists will be awarded with a production budget of $75,000 to produce their short films and receive mentorship from industry leaders like Encanto star Stephanie Beatriz and Blindspotting director Carlos López Estrada. In November, the public will have the chance to vote on their favorite short film to help pick a grand-prize winner who will be given a year-long opportunity to work with McDonald’s on creative initiatives and campaigns.
