Influencers are receiving cheap cosmetics procedures and plastic surgery for promoting products, but experts worry it’s impacting their mental health. From Botox to breast implants to lip and cheek fillers, some young influencers on TikTok have been highlighting their physical transformations to their followers. The hashtags #plasticsurgery and #lipfiller have accumulated billions of views, with videos featuring young people sharing their experiences. Recently, some clinics and medical practitioners have been turning to these creators to advertise their procedures in exchange for discounted services, spurring creators in their teens and early twenties to get the procedures done. However, we told you that social media is having a serious impact on the way young females see themselves and experts worry that the pressure to “look perfect” in real life and online are causing young people to develop mental health disorders like body dysmorphia. According to @awnuhmomentt, who uses her account to talk about her procedures, it’s important to her that she’s open and transparent about the work she’s had done, while other creators say they regret receiving too many procedures.
