Sony Music Group is working with GLAAD to advance LGBTQ representation in the music industry. To amplify LGBTQ voices in the music world, the partnership will provide education-focused sessions to Sony Music Group employees / leadership to build awareness and understanding for LGBTQ people and issues. The GLAAD Media Institute will consult with Sony on its campaigns and programs aimed at highlighting LGBTQ issues and people, and will produce the “Icons” Interview Series bringing together LGBTQ musicians, songwriters, and producers to discuss the history of inclusion in music, the current state of the industry, and how strides can be made for the future. YPulse research shows the percentage of Gen Z and Millennials who identify as LGBTQ+ is growing, and it’s vital for industries across the board to show up for this demographic in authentic ways year round (i.e. not just during Pride Month).
