Adidas created a paid affiliate brand ambassador program for Division 1 student athletes. We told you all the ways brands are supporting student athletes with name, image, and likeness (NIL) deals / programs. Now, Adidas is joining the club with a paid affiliate brand ambassador program. The brand will welcome 50,000 NCAA Division 1 student athletes to the program, rolling out first at Adidas-partnered Historically Black Colleges and Universities and the Power 5 Conference this fall (it will roll out at all Adidas-partnered schools by April 2023). Athletes will have the chance to earn a percentage of the sales they drive to the Adidas site and mobile app and be compensated for social media posts showing off Adidas gear. As the brand explains, the effort is a “wide-sweeping, equitable, and inclusive” NIL program as student athletes, regardless of gender and sport, are welcome to join—as long as they attend an Adidas-partnered school and are a Division 1 athlete.
