Pinterest launched “Try On for Home Decor,” an AR tool that lets consumers see how furniture looks in their space before buying.

Feb 02 2022

Pinterest launched “Try On for Home Decor,” an AR tool that lets consumers see how furniture looks in their space before buying. While home brands like CB2, Target, and even some listings on Amazon have introduced augmented reality (AR) tools to help shoppers visualize furniture / home decor in their homes, Pinterest’s tool isn’t brand specific, and lets users view products from companies like Crate & Barrel, Walmart, West Elm. The Try on for Home Decor feature is the latest AR offering from Pinterest, following a tool introduced in 2020 that lets shoppers try on makeup—and the platform found that users are five times more likely to buy makeup when they interact with the AR tool. YPulse has told you that having an AR strategy is vital for reaching young consumers, and as social commerce picks up, the technology will be even more important for leveling up the online shopping experience for Gen Z and Millennials. Our shopping and retail data shows the majority of young consumers think online shopping should be an experience, and they’re highly interested in shopping on social media. (CNETTIME)
