With Balenciaga’s Yeezy Gap collection underway, the luxury fashion industry is on its way to becoming more accessible to young consumers. YPulse’s luxury research shows Gen Z and Millennials are redefining luxury while calling on the industry to make products more accessible and relatable. Now, Kanye West (Ye) and designer Demna Gvasalia (Demna) are teaming up on a project for Gap known as Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga, meaning shoppers will soon be able to snag Balenciaga designs at Gap prices. Demna notes, “[The Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga project] allowed me to join forces [with Ye] to create utilitarian fashion for all.” This isn’t the first time the two have worked together; Demna creative-directed the stage sets and livestreams for West’s “Donda” listening events. The Yeezy Gap line is already massively popular, and the first drop of the Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga project is expected to come in June, with a second one planned for later this year.
