Rent the Runway is launching a “Fast Fashion Free” initiative to turn recycled workwear into new materials. The rental platform is joining the list of brands that have been introducing recycling programs to bring new life to old clothes with its “Fast Fashion Free” campaign where consumers in NYC can drop off work clothing they no longer wear at the Rent the Runway store near Union Square. The recycled garments will be sent to Green Tree Textiles Recycling where it will be turned into insulation material for new houses and buildings. Sustainability advocates like Leah Thomas (co-founder of Intersectional Environmentalist), Kate Glavan (host of the Seamoss Girlies podcast), Kathryn Kellogg (Goingzerowaste.com founder), and Taylor Giavasis (The Naked Diaries founder) are also part of the brand’s larger “Fast Fashion Free” campaign.
