Dec 03 2021

House of Gucci is finding success on the resale market. Despite some less than satisfactory reviews of the film, House of Gucci isn’t a total bomb—at least when it comes to the styles featured. ShopStyle reports searches for Gucci are up 31% on the digital shopping platform, with the double-G belt style leading searches at 71% while bags and loafers are up 60% and 50%, respectively. Lyst notes searches for Gucci jumped 68% within 48 hours of the film’s release, although that doesn’t beat the 173% increase Lyst experienced after the trailer dropped in August. Searches for “vintage Gucci” have increased a whopping 270% according to Wethrift. Lady Gaga’s character’s fashion in the film is boosting search results for long-sleeved midis and polka dot dresses, according to ShopStyle. This isn’t the first time fashion from popular TV shows and movies has inspired young consumers, and thrifting luxury looks (or buying the #cheapestthing(s) from luxury brands) is one of these gens’ specialties.
