A newly launched sports app is going after Gen Z and Millennials with viral, “must-see” sports moments. After receiving $20 million in series A funding from prominent investors including Naomi Osaka, Michael Jordan, and Patrick Mahomes, Buzzer has officially launched as a live sports mobile platform aimed at helping young fans discover the biggest moments in sports. The launch comes just in time for NBA season, and will personalize users’ preferences and data to deliver short-form moments from live sports content. Buzzer is currently partnering with the NBA, the PGA Tour, the NHL, and the WNBA, and fans must pay $0.99 cents to watch 10 minutes of live game footage or pay $2 each quarter for access to sports content. YPulse’s Scouting Next Gen Sports Fans trend research shows that 78% of Gen Z and 80% of Millennials watch or are interested in watching sports highlights on social media, and Buzzer is hoping it can become their go-to source for sports highlights.
