Holiday shoppers will be looking for deals and “buy online, pickup in store” options.

Oct 15 2021

Holiday shoppers will be looking for deals and “buy online, pickup in store” options. According to a seasonal forecast from the Global Trade Association, shopper spending from November to December is expected to experience 8.9% growth from last year’s spending, and retail could pull in nearly $923 billion in sales. Flexibility and convenience will be key incentives for shoppers, and holiday discounts/bargains, “buy online, pick up in store” options, curbside pickup, and other convenient shopping options will be big this season. YPulse’s 2021 holiday shopping plans research found that in-store shopping is expected to make a return this year, with 63% of young holiday shoppers saying they feel comfortable shopping in-stores this holiday (up 20pts from 2020). NPD reported that more than a third of consumers are expected to spend more this year than they did in 2020, and businesses are doing everything they can to ensure holiday expectations are delivered, while Home Depot, Walmart, and Costco have already started chartering private cargo ships to ensure product availability.
