The DIY generations are coming clean about their “disastrous” home improvement projects. YPulse’s No Place Like Home trend research found that 64% of young consumers became more interested in improving/fixing up their homes because of COVID-19, and a new survey of 2,000 Americans conducted by OnePoll for BJ’s Wholesale Club reveals just how successful home improvement junkies consider their DIY projects. Four in 10 say they’ve had more DIY failures than they have successes, and 45% say they’ve ruined a home improvement project, while 57% say they wish they could go back in time to call in a professional before getting started. Home improvement TV shows, websites, and social media are go-to places for them to find inspiration, and DIYers prefer to replicate what they see on social media while putting their own spin on the project. The kitchen was also found to be one of the most challenging rooms to renovate. (Yahoo! News)
