Madewell opened a secondhand clothing pop-up. As part of its partnership with ThredUp, Madewell is now offering some of its pre-owned products for $10-$40 at a resale location in Brooklyn, New York. Products are sourced from ThredUp’s inventory, and the store also lets consumers send in their unwanted clothes in exchange for ThredUp or Madewell store credit. Education plays a primary role in the store with stats on clothing waste and designs showcasing its impact on the environment splashed across the store’s walls. A first of its kind mending and alterations station is also available to help consumers find their perfect fit. Secondhand clothing/accessories are one of the top eco-friendly products young consumers are most interested in purchasing, and fashion circularity is becoming a popular way to reduce clothing waste as more clothing companies find ways to give used clothes new life.
