Amazon is integrating a “Buy Now, Pay Later” option.

Aug 31 2021

Amazon is integrating a “Buy Now, Pay Later” option. In a new partnership with Affirm, Amazon consumers will have the option to split the total cost of purchases over $50 into monthly payments in select markets. The payment option will roll out in the upcoming months, but purchases from Whole Foods, Amazon Fresh, and digital purchases like movies and books won’t be eligible to pay for via Affirm. Brands have been incorporating “Buy Now, Pay Later” (BNPL) services to help Gen Z and Millennial shoppers finance their purchases interest-free, and according to YPulse’s recent shopping and retail research, 29% of young consumers say they have used a BNPL service while 36% say they’re interested in using one. With Amazon named as young consumers’ No. 1 place to buy clothing according to YPulse’s fashion and style research, incorporating Affirm’s BNPL service is a sure way for the ecommerce giant to retain its appeal with Gen Z and Millennial shoppers.
