Spotify wants to be listeners’ go-to music and podcast app. The music streaming platform is adding new features and partnerships that will promote even more music and podcast discovery. A “What’s New” feed is coming to Spotify that will keep users up to date on the latest music and podcast releases—basically a personalized feed based on users’ listening preferences. Users can browse the “What’s New” feed via a bell icon at the top of their home screen, and it will be updated in real time so listeners always have something new to discover. Spotify is also partnering with several platforms including Open Access, Acast, Memberful, and more that will allow paid shows from third-party platforms and networks to be played on the app. Users will be able to sign into their podcast network of choice via Spotify, thus streamlining the process so users can access (almost) all of their favorite shows through one app. YPulse’s TV and entertainment data shows that 62% of 13-39-year-olds listen to podcasts, and Spotify’s new partnerships are an opportunity for the platform to attract young listeners.
