Nickelodeon is prepping podcasts for Avatar, SpongeBob, and more TV shows. YPulse’s TV and entertainment research shows that 62% of 13-39-year-olds listen to podcasts, and Gen Z is just as likely to be listening to podcasts as Millennials. Nickelodeon is tapping into the popularity of podcasting among young people, with a partnership with iHeartRadio to produce a slate of podcasts based on its TV show brands. The podcasts will include Avatar: Braving the Elements, where voice actors will rewatch the animated series and dive into discussion about the show’s themes; Avatar: The Last Airbender, an action-adventure series following a group of kids using their magic powers to make the world a better place; and SpongeBob BingePants, a 40-episode series that will share recaps and new trivia about SpongeBob.
