Afterpay is launching sustainability initiatives and live shopping events to attract young shoppers. Buy Now, Pay Later services have picked up among young consumers in the last year, and ahead of Earth Day, Afterpay is trying to reach that demographic with their sustainability-focused initiatives. Their first is a “top-up” program that lets shoppers add a $1 donation at checkout to benefit Magpies & Peacock, a nonprofit design house that wants “to disrupt the cycle of waste in the fashion industry” as well as Surfrider, a nonprofit environmental organization “that focuses on protecting the world’s oceans.” Throughout the campaign, the company is promising to match every donation. Meanwhile, their first live shopping experience will highlight sustainable brands using an integrated live shopping tech platform. (WWD)
