The emo scene lives on in TikTok. We told you about all the ways the 2000s are back, and the emo revival is very much one of the trends alive in 2021. TikTok is doing what MySpace did for emo and pop punk music 15 years ago, but for a new generation. Previously popular artists like Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and Machine Gun Kelly have been seeing a resurgence in popularity on the app, while 3OH!3, Linkin Park, and Fall Out Boy have teamed up with newer bands like 100 Gecs to release new songs. Meanwhile, a crop of new Gen Z musicians like YUNGBLUD and TikTok stars Jaden Hossler and Hype House member Chase Hudson (a.k.a Lil Huddy) are releasing “radio-friendly pop emo songs.” (Polygon)
