Viewers in the U.S. are now paying nearly $50 a month for streaming services.

Jan 26 2021

Viewers in the U.S. are now paying nearly $50 a month for streaming services. According to a J.D. Power survey, U.S. consumers are paying an average of $47 monthly for streaming services—up 24% from $38 since COVID first hit. Americans are subscribed to four streaming services on average—up from three. They’re “shelling out” 24% more to get their on-demand fix during quarantines. The surge in streamer spending has been fueled by the arrival of new services like HBO Max and Peacock, while top competitors like Netflix and Disney+ continue to grow subscribers. Yesterday, we told you how the number of 13-39-year-olds who subscribe to multiple services increased from 57% in 2019 to 69% in 2020. (Variety)
