2020 was the year young consumers took “wellness” into their own hands. With the pandemic ravaging young people’s mental health this year, many turned to “breathwork,” group healing sessions, or mental health journaling. Some relied on reiki, crystal healing, birth chart reading, and other practices grounded in spirituality that are more accessible and affordable. Others focused on regulating their sleep causing meditation apps like Calm to see a “doubling” of downloads this year. YPulse’s State of Mind trend report found that 65% of 13-39-year-olds tried to meditate regularly, while 54% tried holistic remedies, and 63% reported downloading a meditation or mindfulness app—and our latest trend webinar explored these topics more in-depth.
