| After spending their fall semesters virtually and indoors, college students’ mental health has suffered. College students whose educations were upended by COVID came across difficult challenges throughout the whole semester. Roommates who were remote learning had to negotiate on shared spaces since they had classes on Zoom all day. Many who started their semester with optimism began to lose motivation and experienced increased anxiety halfway through as lockdowns and isolation persisted, while others simply felt like they were missing out on milestones—and a “normal” college experience. YPulse’s Education report found that 62% of college students say remote learning has been difficult, while our State of Mind trend research found that 60% of college students say their mental health has been negatively impacted by the pandemic.
