The NFL is trying a variety of strategies to grab young sports fans’ attention. In the age of streamers and social media, the NFL isn’t just competing against other sports leagues and entertainment companies—they’re “fight[ing] for attention.” To bring in a more “youthful audience,” the league has focused marketing efforts on TikTok, where their account is “outpacing its presence on all other social media platforms combined.” They’re also transforming players into influencers by teaching them best practices on social media and hosting an annual summit to swap tips and hear from industry leaders. YPulse’s sports survey found that 83% of young sports fans agree “I would like to see more content from my favorite athletes off-the-court.” (Adweek)
