Researchers say video games can be good for young people’s mental health.

Nov 18 2020

Researchers say video games can be good for young people’s mental health. According to an Oxford University study, which focuses on the Animal Crossing craze as well as EA’s shooter game Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for the Neighborville, found that people who played more video games tended to report a greater “wellbeing” casting further doubt on reports that gaming can hurt mental health. Gaming has been booming during quarantines, and mental wellness has become a major entertainment trend. Pre-pandemic, YPulse’s State of Gaming trend report found that 76% of 13-36-year-olds who play video games say it is a way for them to escape, while 54% think video games can be effective in treating pain or anxiety.
