Unilever’s ice cream home delivery service is booming during the pandemic. Unilever, owner of Ben & Jerry’s and many other popular brands, has become the “undisputed king of ice cream,” beating out competitors and accounting for “nearly a fifth of ice cream sales to consumers.” According to the company, ice cream eaten at home increased by 26% from April to June, and by 16% in the following quarter compared to last year. Quarantined consumers shopping for groceries online has paved the way for their newest market: Ice cream on-demand. Their 30-minute home delivery business Ice Cream Now has “boomed” during the pandemic. Starting out as only a “single freezer and virtual store” in 2016, it’s now available in more than 100 cities across 36 markets through partnerships with Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub, Just Eat, and Domino’s Pizza.
