Comfort flavors are getting young consumers through 2020.

Sep 21 2020

Comfort flavors are getting young consumers through 2020. During a year of strife and struggle, young consumers are turning to favorite comfort foods more than ever. YPulse found that 41% of 13-39-year-olds are eating more comfort foods in quarantine, and according to food processing company ADM, many food manufacturers are “tapping into tastes that make consumers feel comforted.” A OnePoll report found that 85% of consumers in the U.S. have gained up to six pounds indulging in comfort foods and that Millennials are spending nearly $71 a week on “feel-good food items” during lockdown. The uptick in foods includes childhood favorites like pizza (55%), hamburgers (48%), ice cream (46%), French fries (45%), mac & cheese (38%), and spaghetti & meatballs (32%).
