Target and Walmart sales are surging as the pandemic continues to fuel ecommerce shopping. Young shoppers have been accelerating ecommerce shopping, and our Retail’s New Reality trend report found that the majority of 13-39-year-olds have been shopping online more than they did pre-pandemic. And retailers are feeling the impact: According to Target, they had the “strongest quarterly growth in its history” and a near “tripling” of digital sales with an 195% increase compared to last year. Walmart has also experienced a 97% increase in ecommerce sales with revenue nearly “double” in the latest quarter. Long-term, “strong e-commerce platforms are table stakes for all retailers now.” (Yahoo! Finance, WSJ)
