Retailers are taking a very different approach for back to school, promoting face masks and at-home dorm décor. While some brands are still displaying their backpacks and lunch boxes, other “forward-thinking” competitors are instead targeting young people with “stylish masks,” and encouraging parents to “turn college-bound teens’ bedrooms into dorm rooms, kitchens into faux cafeterias, and backyards into recess playgrounds.” Retail sales have been on the rise for three straight months, and brands are doing their best to make the most out of a difficult BTS season.
