TikTok plans to add live broadcasts to its platform. TikTok isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, with quarantined teens spending more time watching and experimenting with the creation of content on the app. The pandemic helped to make it “the most downloaded app in the world — installed 315 million times in the first quarter, according to third-party data.” To keep those users engaged long-term, TikTok is betting that live streams will play a much larger role in its future, and is planning to invest in more live content. YPulse’s exclusive COVID research found that 32% of 13-39-year-olds are watching live streams more often during Coronavirus—and it’s a trend that is likely to continue post-pandemic.
