Millennials and people of color are being financially hit the hardest by COVID-19. According to a survey from Pew Research Center, three out of every 10 Americans either lost their job or had to take a pay cut because of the pandemic—and those numbers are higher for Hispanic (43%) and Black (29%) Americans compared to white Americans (25%). The impact of job losses is heavily affecting young people’s mental health: A John Hopkins survey found that 24% of 18-29-year-olds reported experiencing psychological distress during the pandemic. YPulse’s exclusive COVID data found that 15% of Millennials say they have lost their jobs due to COVID-19—and 41% of 13-39-year-olds’ mental health has been negatively impacted by Coronavirus.
