High school seniors are making their own yearbooks on Instagram.

May 04 2020

High school seniors are making their own yearbooks on Instagram. High schoolers have already been forced to give up prom, graduation, and other rites, but the class of 2020 has taken to social media to share their memories, achievements, and even college decisions. On Instagram, hundreds of students have created yearbook accounts filled with portraits, post-graduation plans, and quotes. The submissions are sent via DM to the account’s creators and are edited into a formal layout using software like Google Slides, PicsArt, and Unfold. The pages serve as a space for underclassmen and teachers to bid the senior class farewell as comments on the posts take the place of traditional signatures. For many students, the virtual platform creates a “positive environment” where they can celebrate each other’s successes. (NYTimes, CNN)
