TikTok is becoming teens’ go-to political news source.

Mar 02 2020

TikTok is becoming teens’ go-to political news source. YPulse research has shown that social media is young consumers’ top news source, and Facebook and Twitter have long been go-to hubs for political discussions. But now TikTok is emerging as a new space for news and information—especially for teens. Ahead of the 2020 election, many first-time voters are using the platform to form coalitions, campaign, debate, and even run fact checks. TikTok use soared among Gen Z last year, and eMarketer predicts that the short-form video app will increase its user base by 22% in 2020, bringing it to 45.4 million. (NYTimes, Mobile Marketer)
