College students will be snacking on ethical, sustainable, and plant-based foods in 2020. According to a survey from school food service company Sodexo, 81% of Gen Z consumers like to eat healthy, convenient snacks and young consumers are more inclined to buy snacks if they are in sustainable packaging. (YPulse found that 42% of 18-to-36-year-olds look for all natural ingredients when shopping for food.) Sodexo also predicts that the plant-based food trend will continue into 2020, and diverse snacks from other countries—like roasted seaweed sheets from Japan or gluten-free baked cheese balls from Brazil—will become more popular.
