Will Build-A-Bear be the next retailer to go extinct? The toy brand reported losses of $1.2 million in their second quarter earnings, along with a year-over-year revenue declines. However, they’re making changes that could help them claw their way through the retail wasteland, including opening sites within Walmarts, as more malls (where most Build-A-Bears are located) continue to close their doors. In addition, they’ve upped their e-commerce presence, and have expanded their target demo beyond kids: Their recent TheNightmare Before Christmas collection appealed to nostalgic Millennials.
