Young workers feel like they need an average salary of $125K to feel like they “made it.” According to a study from Invoice software platform Skynova, of U.S. workers between the ages of 21-42-years-old, 58% of young professionals say they are displeased with their current salaries. Gen Z and Millennial workers want a salary ranging from $70-$80K on average, but they feel they need to make around $125K to consider themselves successful and feel like they’ve “made it.” The survey also found that although young professionals are “pushing for better salaries, they tend to reject high-pressure industries like law because of the lack of work-life balance — typically a top priority for Gen Z.” YPulse’s Employment & Career Goals report data shows that while having a high paying job is important to Gen Z and Millennials when thinking about their future careers, the majority say they’d rather have a job they’re passionate about but do not earn a lot of money for.
