TikTok’s new influencing trend is making viewers feel like they’re going about their lives all wrong.  YPulse research shows TikTok is the app Gen Z says they’re most addicted to and it’s become their top app for entertainment. Users look to the app as an educational research tool, with a growing number preferring to search topics on TikTok before even thinking about Googling them. The app has evolved into a vast “how to” platform featuring an array of creators from dermatologists to lawyers to amateur makeup artists dishing out advice on virtually anything under the sun: “relationships, sobriety, jewelry shopping, managing anxiety, buying plane tickets, lowering your blood pressure,” etc. But many creators are taking a “you’re doing it wrong” approach to their content with videos titled like “Stop traumatizing your kids” or “Fashion Mistakes that make you look completely STUPID.” According to TikTok, “the hashtag #Mistakes has seen a 59.8 percent increase in views over the last year, while #DosAndDonts is up 71.4 percent.” (Vox)
