Gen Z says they want “real moments” when traveling—and they’re planning their next vacation based on popular TV shows. The hospitality industry is making some major updates to accommodate young travelers. According to a report from Skift, Gen Z is expecting more out of hotel stays specifically and they want resorts to reflect their generation’s sense of authenticity. This gen is into the “funny, silly, real moments that make a trip truly memorable” over capturing the perfect photo. Plus, young travelers say they’re willing to splurge for places with “the right vibe.” For some, that means traveling to destinations featured in some of their favorite TV shows. According to an American Express survey, over half of young people said “they’d been inspired to visit a destination after seeing it featured in a TV show or movie” (thank the popularity of The White Lotus).
