Some shoppers are stocking up on back-to-work essentials. According to data from ecommerce analytics firm Profitero, searches for back-to-work items (think on-the-go breakfast, business wear, etc.) are growing as some workers head back to the office. Amazon searches for makeup brush sets were up 7,766% the last two weeks of July compared to the same period last year; searches for women’s blazers increased 2,000%; searches for breakfast drinks, breakfast sandwiches, and breakfast bars are up 345%, 197%, and 114%, respectively; power banks jumped 3,921%; treat dispensing cameras (specifically from Furbo) are up 264%. Some analysts are predicting that back-to-work shopping could rival back-to-school spending, but with workplace conditions continuing to evolve due to the Delta variant it’s not clear what young people’s work and school environments will look like this fall.
