Burberry has launched an NFT in partnership with Mythical Games’ flagship game Blankos Block Party.

Aug 11 2021

Burberry has launched an NFT in partnership with Mythical Games’ flagship game Blankos Block Party. The popular multiplayer game features digital toys dubbed ‘Blankos,’ which live on a blockchain, building in proof of ownership. As the first luxury brand to join the game, Burberry will launch branded in-game NFT accessories, including a jetpack, armbands and pool shoes, which players can put on any of their Blankos. Though YPulse data shows that most young consumers (in the U.S.) don’t fully understand NFTs, that’s not putting a stop to the hype around this unique cryptocurrency. Sotheby’s sold an NFT collection by digital artist Pak for $17 million, for instance, and the famed Nyan Cat GIF sold for nearly $600K. Celebrities, influencers, and creators have also been jumping on the NFT movement to sell digital art, images, and their own social media posts. Now, luxury brands are getting in on the action, too: in addition to Burberry, France’s Louis Vuitton recently launched a mobile video game that offers players 30 free NFTs, and Gucci is said to be eyeing their own NFT launch.
