Ariana Grande is headlining Fortnite’s Rift Tour concert series. Following its success with metaverse concerts featuring Travis Scott and Marshmello, Fortnite is kicking off a five-show event with Ariana Grande. From August 6-8 “players will be able to travel side by side with their friends on a journey to magical realities where Fortnite and Ariana collide,” according to Epic Games. Ariana Grande is (of course) getting her own skin that players can purchase and wear to the concert as part of the game’s Icon Series that LeBron James and Tyler “Ninja” Blevins have also been a part of. And players who subscribe to the Fortnite Crew subscription can score exclusive bonuses for attending. Video game concerts transformed music marketing because of the pandemic, and with headliners like Ariana Grande, the trend likely isn’t going anywhere post-COVID. (The Verge)
