SiriusXM is tapping “#TikTokTastemakers” and Pandora playlists to attract young listeners. With the songs of last summer owned almost entirely by TikTok, and more stars making their claim to fame through music on the app (hi Bella Poarch), TikTok’s influence on the music industry is undeniably strong. Now, SiriusXM is tapping the app’s musical “TikTok Tastemakers” for a partnership that will introduce a TikTok Hits Playlist and full-time TikTok radio channel hosted by DJs, influencers, and creators on SiriusXM, as well as re-airings of Pandora LIVE events on TikTok. Creators on the app will also curate, host, and promote their own Pandora playlists for their TikTok fans. YPulse’s music data shows that the top two places 13-39-year-olds are listening to music is social media and streaming services. Spotify and Apple have also created their own TikTok playlists, and Pandora’s integration with the app is yet another way the music industry is tuning in (no pun intended) to young people’s social media music interests.
