Friends fans spent a “staggering” amount of minutes watching the show on TV last year. While quarantined kids have been watching YouTube, their parents have been turning to 2000s classic sitcoms on cable. According to USA Today, 17-year-old NBC sitcom Friends “was the most-watched comedy on broadcast or cable TV” totaling 96.7 billion minutes viewed—a 30% jump from 2019. YPulse found that Friends is one of the top shows that young viewers like to binge and with the 2000s back in full swing, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the show’s fans leaned on it as a source of comfort during quarantines.
