Families are turning to YouTube’s most popular children’s channels during lockdowns. Millennial parents tell YPulse that YouTube is their kids’ favorite social platforms, and throughout the pandemic, kids have been tuning into the site’s buzzy channels. According to Moonbug, Cocomelon picked up 33 million subscribers in 2020 alone—and this month, it’s the number one kids’ show globally on the platform, with 105 million subscribers. It also has pulled in more than 3 billion views a month on YouTube, spent over 120 days on Netflix’s Top 10 list, and was ranked the number one preschool artist on Spotify with more than 50 million streams. Meanwhile, Skyship Entertainment reported that their program “Super Simple Songs,” which teaches children English, saw a 40% increase in views on YouTube last year as well as a spike to their Super Simple app, which grew by 7K subscribers.
