Black-owned e-tailers are launching “one-stop shops” for BIPOC-founded beauty brands. Following the Black Lives Matter protests last year, Nyakio founder Nyakio Greico launched beauty ecommerce site Thirteen Lune in December to showcase BIPOC-owned beauty brands. She’s not alone—the last year has brought a wave of platforms bringing together BIPOC-owned labels, including AMP Beauty LA, Geenie, Sanctuaire, and Beautyocracy. Each platform “emphasizes curation and community-building while focusing on different price points, age demographics and categories.” According to AMP Beauty LA, “There isn’t really a one-stop shop where women of color, and Black women especially, can shop for all of their beauty products.” Other recent efforts to support Black-owned businesses and founders include #PullUpOrShutUp challenge founder Sharon Chuter’s new Make It Black campaign in honor of Black History Month.
