As teens deal with a “looming climate apocalypse,” teachers are doing their best to bring the issue into more lessons. YPulse research shows 71% of young people feel that climate change is an immediate threat to life. Gen Z’s “eco-anxiety” is leading them to recycle more, buy sustainable products or going “zero-waste,” or switch to a plant-based diet as ways to take collective steps to persevering the planet. Meanwhile, teachers are doing their part by teaching about the climate crisis in more ways, with some educational institutions hiring “sustainability curriculum coordinators” to incorporate climate change into non-related science classes like English.
