Startups are hiring students taking gap years.

Aug 19 2020

Startups are hiring students taking gap years. With only 2.5% of colleges reportedly planning to go back to fully in-person learning this upcoming school year, many young people are instead opting to take the semester off or doing gap years to “avoid online class.” This has created a new talent pool for startups and firms to recruit into remote fall internships through virtual career fairs, grants. Others, like food delivery company Postmates, have extended the terms of their summer sessions to keep interns on board longer. YPulse’s research on Gen Z’s Education Interrupted found that 60% of college students say COVID-19 has changed their academic plans in some way, with some reconsidering whether they will go to college at all.
