COVID has transformed how young people get around. Because of the virus, young consumers have been taking public transport less and instead using skateboards, roller skates, bikes, and scooters to get where they need to go. The demand is leading to shortages and sell outs at bike shops and outdoor recreation stores, and bike share and shared scooter programs have expanded across various cities to accommodate the increase in use. But cars are also getting a boost: According to online used car marketplace SHIFT, 46% of adults in the U.S. plan to use their cars more than public transit because of the pandemic. (NPR, Forbes)
