Candy companies are worried there will be less demand for their business this Halloween.

Candy companies are worried there will be less demand for their business this Halloween. With spooky season just three months away, brands are concerned that COVID could hurt candy sales due to event cancellations and fewer outings. According to a survey from Harris Poll, only 27% of adults in the U.S. plan on taking their kids trick-or-treating this year. In anticipation of “less demand,” Hershey has shifted production away from Halloween-themed products. Analysts suggest that Hershey’s and other companies should consider ramping up ads to target consumers who want to “treat themselves” or put out “extra candy bowls” in the living room. (Adweek)
