Quarantined young people are making their own online reality dating series inspired by Love is Blind. Self-isolating during a pandemic brings a new meaning to extended singledom as young consumers try to find ways to date while staying apart. Netflix’s dating show was already one of the most talked about series earlier this year—and now it has inspired two New York roommates to create their own version: “Love is Quarantine.” Google spreadsheet cells replace Netflix’s infamous pods, interested participants provide their phone numbers, and the organizers set up half hour phone calls between matches, while fans can follow along on the Instagram page. More than 400 “contestants” have already signed up for the next “season.” YPulse’s dating and relationships survey found that 72% of 19-37-year-olds say technology has made dating easier.
