Millennials are flipping the traditional order for life milestones, buying homes before getting hitched. It’s a myth that Millennials aren’t buying homes, but they are doing it differently than older demos. According to Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies, 61% of first-time home buyers were married in 1997; by 2017, that percentage dipped to little more than half, with 35% never having been married at all.
