The majority of working Gen Z adults reportedly can’t live comfortably on their own. A survey by LendingTree shows that 26.9% of 18-27-year-olds with full-time jobs can afford a “standard one-bedroom apartment while spending less than 30% of income on rent.” But of course, the number who can afford this varies wildly depending on what city they’re in. And while the report notes that over half of Millennials and Boomers are able to afford living comfortably solo, that aligns with the higher incomes that come with age. YPulse data also shows that 44% of all 18-24-year-olds live alone or with a significant other, compared to 12% who live with roommates. So, while Gen Z’s financial struggles have been well documented (by us and everyone else), this particular stat could just be a reflection of their life stage. (Scripps News)
